Scenarios are storylines  used as frameworks through which thinking is focussed and challenged  to explore and experience alternative realities. Scenarios provide  a way of dealing with - making sense out of - uncertainty when looking  at our world. They help release us from our conditioning and the habits  that inhibit new insight and new actions. They bring together creatively  the worlds of the analyst and the artist, the pragmatist and the poet  for the good of all. Scenarios help  you recognise that change is a necessity and thinking ahead, sharing  and defining a vision a way of life. They help bring clarity to current  circumstances, provide insight for new options and guidelines for robust  actions. They enable sensitivity towards and a greater understanding  of the changing environment. They inform for concerted adaptive action. Scenarios are alternative  pictures of the future and how it might develop. They are not predictions  but stories built on the variable outcomes of our critical uncertainties  and concerns. Whilst they challenge and stretch what is believable they  are completely plausible. That's why they are so important. We use scenarios  to test our beliefs and expectations so that we can re-define them with  more knowledge for greater precision. Think of Scenarios  as "free samples". A low risk opportunity for exploration  and evaluation before making a heavy commitment of resources - or a  serious mistake. A means of discovering you need something you were  unaware of. 'Free Samples' provide a safe opportunity - a playground  - in which adults can explore something new. An opportunity to share  in a unique experience and form your own opinion. If it works for you  - if you like it - you can build it into your life.
